1. Father, As your Son was raised on the cross, His Mother Mary stood by Him, sharing His suffering. May she, who is also our spiritual Mother and Patroness in Heaven, help us to find renewed strength at the cross of Christ and so come to share in His rising to new life, where He lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

1. And
Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, "Behold, this child is
destined for the fall and for the rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that
shall be contradicted. And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that the
thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." (Luke 2:34-35)
Flight to Egypt
2. . . . an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying, "Arise, and take the child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and remain there until I tell you. For Herod will seek the child to destroy him" So he arose, and took the child and his mother by night, and withdrew into Egypt. (Matthew 2:13-14)

he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, thy son." When he said to
the disciple, "Behold, thy mother." And from that hour the disciple took
her into his home. After this Jesus, knowing that all things were now
accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst."
therefore, when Jesus had taken the wine, he said, "It is consummated!"
and bowing his head, he gave up his spirit. (John 25-28, 30)
