Prayers of Devotion to Saint Michael, Archangel
1. Prayer to Saint Michael
Saint Michael, the Archangel,
defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the
devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and Thou O Prince of the
heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil
sprits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
2. O glorious St. Michael, guardian and defender of the church of Jesus Christ, come to the assistance of the Church, against which the powers of hell are unchained, guard and with especial care her august Head, and obtain that for him and for us the hour of triumph may speedily arrive.
3. O glorious archangel St. Michael, watch over us during life, defend us against the assaults of the demon, assist us especially at the hour of death; obtain for us a favorable judgment, and the happiness of beholding God face to face for endless ages. Amen.
4. Prayer to Saint Michael
Please protect us, St. Michael the Archangel, against violence, murder, and robbery. In your goodness preserve us today from all the malice of sinful and wicked persons. In your sleepless vigilance watch over the safety and welfare of our homes, and keep guard over our possessions. Ever hold in your special care, most triumphant St. Michael, the forces of public order against the crimes of evil people, and defend all honest citizens in time of peril. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
5. A Policeman’s Prayer
Victorious St. Michael, you
know who evil men are awake and plotting while good men sleep. Even so was
faithless Judas awake and betraying our Lord while the Apostles slumbered in the
Garden at Gethsemane.
Help me, powerful Archangel of God, to be always alert at my post, ever ready to do my duty, and to apprehend criminals without fear or favor. Be near me and my fellow police in times of peril and emergency, please. Defend us by your power when we are in danger. Be sure to shield us from all temptation and any occasion of sin. Help us to preserve our integrity and retain God’s love in every trial.
Just as you were able by God’s power to cast Satan into hell, may we always be able to control, subdue and confine malefactors and evildoers in God’s name. Amen.
6. Prayer to St. Michael
Most glorious Prince of the
Heavenly Armies, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in “our battle against
principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against
the spirits of wickedness in the high places.”
Come to the assistance of men whom God has created to His likeness and whom He has redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. Holy Church venerates you as her guardian and protector; to you, the Lord has entrusted the souls of the redeemed to be led into heaven.
Pray therefore of the God of Peace, that we crush Satan beneath our feet, that he may no longer retain men captive and do injury to the Church. Offer our prayers to the Most High, that without delay they may draw His mercy down upon us; take hold of “the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan,” bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit “so that he may no longer seduce the nations.”
7. Saint Michael
O mighty Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, St. Michael, we beg you to protect and defend us in all our struggles against the everyday temptations in this world. Help us to overcome all evils and strengthen us, that we may declare our faith in and loyalty to the Most High so that together with all the angels and saints in heaven we may glorify the Lord. St. Michael, please intercede for us together with the Blessed Virgin Mary, and obtain for us the following requests, (mention your intentions).
Present to God, the Father all these petitions through Jesus Christ, our Lord together with the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.
