Prayers of Devotion to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (The Little Flower)
1. Prayer to Saint Therese
O Glorious St. Thérèse,
whom Almighty God has raised up to aid and inspire the human family. I implore
your Miraculous Intercession. You are so powerful in obtaining every need of
body and spirit from the heart of God. Holy Mother Church proclaims you
“Prodigy of Miracles . . . the Greatest Saint of Modern Times.”
Now I fervently beseech you to answer my petition and to carry out your promises of “spending heaven doing good upon earth . . .;” of ”letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses.”
Little Flower, give me your childlike faith, to see the face of God in the people and experiences of my life, and to love God with full confidence.
St. Thérèse, my Carmelite sister, I will fulfill your plea “To be made known everywhere” and I will continue to lead others to Jesus through you. Amen.
2. Prayer for Eternal Life
O Little flower of Jesus, ever consoling troubled souls with heavenly graces, in your unfailing intercession I place my confident trust. From the heart of our divine Savior, petition the blessings of which I stand in greatest need, especially (mention your intention). Shower upon me your promised roses of virtue and grace, dear St. Therese, so that swiftly advancing in sanctity and perfect love of neighbor, I may someday receive the crown of life eternal. Amen.
3. Prayer for the Conversion of Russia
O
loving and compassionate Saint, deign to comfort our Russian brethren, the
victims of a long and cruel persecution of the Christian name; obtain for them
perseverance in the faith, progress in the love of God and of their neighbor,
and in confidence toward the most holy Mother of God; prepare for them holy
priests who shall make reparation for the blasphemies and sacrileges committed
against the Holy Eucharist; grant that angelic purity, especially in the young,
and every Christian virtue may once more flourish among them, to the end that
this noble people, being delivered from all slavery and returning freely to the
one fold entrusted by the loving Heart of the Risen Christ to Saint Peter and
his successors, may at length taste the joy of glorifying the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit in the fellowship of the holy Catholic Church. Amen.
4. Prayer for a Special Favor
O Father in Heaven, Who through Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, dost desire to remind the world of the merciful Love that fills Thy Heart, and the childlike trust we should have in Thee, humbly we thank Thee for having crowned with so great glory Thine ever faithful child, and for giving her wondrous power to bring unto Thee, day by day, innumerable souls who will praise Thee eternally.
Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, remember thy promise to do good upon earth, shower down they roses on those who invoke thee, and obtain for us from God the graces we hope for from His infinite goodness.
