Prayers of Devotion to Jesus, the Son of God
1. The Morning Offering
Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all my relatives and friends, and in particular, for the intentions of the Holy Father. Amen.
2. Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me; Body of Christ, save me; Blood of Christ, inebriate me; Water from Christ's side, wash me; Passion of Christ, strengthen me; O good Jesus, hear me; Within Thy wounds hide me; Suffer me not to be separated from Thee; From the malicious enemy defend me; In the hour of my death call me; And bid me come unto Thee; That I may praise Thee with Thy saints and with Thy angels forever and ever. Amen.
3. Prayer of Comfort
May Christ support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and holy rest and peace at the last. Amen.
4. Prayer to the Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart of
Jesus, today I wish to live in You, in Your grace, in which I desire at all
costs to preserve.
Keep me from sin and strengthen my will by helping me to keep watch over
my senses, my imagination, and my heart.
Help me to correct my faults which are the source of sin.
I beg You to do this, O Jesus, through Mary, Your Immaculate Mother.
Amen.
5. Prayer to the Sacred Heart
O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with lively sorrow for my sins I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to your will. Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger. Comfort me in my afflictions. Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Amen.
6. Prayer of Spouses for each other
Lord Jesus, grant that I and my spouse may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony.
May we always bear with one another's weaknesses and grow from each other's strengths. Help us to forgive one another's failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness, and the spirit of placing the well-being of one another ahead of self.
May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection. Amen.
7. Prayer for Grandparents
Lord Jesus, help families and society to value the presence and role of grandparents.
May they never be ignored or excluded, but always encounter respect and love.]
Help them to live serenely and to feel welcomed in all the years of life which you gave them.
Mary, Mother of all the living, keep grandparents constantly in your care, accompany them on their earthly pilgrimage, and by your prayers, grant that all families may one day be reunited in our heavenly homeland, where you await all humanity for the great embrace of life without end, Amen.
8. Prayer to Jesus the Redeemer
O kind and most sweet Jesus, Savior of Mankind, behold me kneeling before You. With all humility I recognize my faults and confess that as a sinner I do not deserve to be heard by You. But with a contrite heat I hope that You will welcome me back as You have welcomed other sinners.
My greatest desire, O Jesus Savior, is that You abide by me in this hour of need. I am sure that You can help me because You are the son of God, and when I see You carrying the Holy Cross I am filled with courage because I remember how much You love me.
In spite of all, however, I can only repeat Your own words to God the Father, “Thy will be done.”
9. Prayer to Jesus for Those who have Lost their Faith
Dear Lord, You became man, suffered, and died to win salvation for all souls.
Look graciously on the souls of those who have drifted away from you and the Faith.
Grant them your grace to see the error of their ways and return to the fold of your care.
Teach me to stay close to them during this trying time and strive to convert them by action and prayers more than by words that may antagonize.
O Sweet Jesus, I trust you to do everything to bring your children back to you.
10. Prayer to the Loving Heart of Jesus
Good and Loving God, as I place my hands together in prayer, my heart and mind turn to You, the Source of all healing.
Fill me with Your infinite love, and let my weakness be replaced by Your strength. In all that I say and do, guide me in ways that are right and just.
Grant me the good health to do Your work here on earth. Let me be an instrument of healing for others, that my actions may offer compassion to all people.
Touch my heart, Lord, that I may be a channel of Your infinite love, especially for the poor and suffering.
Inspire me to draw close to You in my times of need, and help me to lead others to You by my good example.
Most loving Heart of Jesus, bless me with health in mind, body and spirit, that I may serve You with all my strength.
Touch gently this life which You have created, and let Your Holy Spirit guide me now and forever. Amen.
11. Prayer for Healing
Lord, look upon me with eyes of mercy. May your healing Spirit rest upon me. It is through your power that I was created. Since you created me from nothing, you can certainly recreate me. Fill me with the healing power of your spirit. May your life-giving powers flow into every cell of my body and into the depths of my soul. Mend what is broken. Cast out anything that should not be within me. Rebuild my brokenness.
Restore my strength for service
in your Kingdom.
Touch my soul with Your compassion for others.
Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love for all.
Touch my mind with Your wisdom, that my mouth may always proclaim Your
praise.
Teach me to reach out to You in my need, and help me to lead others to You by my example. Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring me health in body and spirit that I may serve You will all my strength.
12. Jesus, the Bread of Life
Father in heaven, You have made us for Yourself; our hearts are restless until they rest in You. Fulfill this longing through Jesus the bread of life, so that we may witness to Him Who alone satisfies the hungers of the human family. By the power of Your spirit, lead us to the heavenly table where we may feast on the vision of Your glory for ever and ever. Amen.
13. Prayer Before Communion
Come, O blessed Savior, and nourish my soul with heavenly food, the Food which contains every sweetness and every delight. Come, Bread of Angels, and satisfy the hunger of my soul. Come, glowing Furnace of Charity, and enkindle in my heart the flame of divine love. Come, Light of the World, and enlighten the darkness of my mind. Come, King of Kings, and make me obedient to Your holy will. Come, loving Savior, and make me meek and humble. Come, Friend of the Sick, and heal the infirmities of my body and the weakness of my soul. Come, Good Shepherd, my God and my All, and take me to Yourself.
O most holy Mother, Mary Immaculate, prepare my heart to receive my Savior.
14. Act of Thanksgiving
From the depths of my heart I thank You, dear Lord, for Your infinite kindness in coming to me. How good You are to me! With Your most holy Mother and all the angels, I praise Your mercy and generosity toward me, a poor sinner. I thank You for nourishing my soul with Your Sacred Body and Precious Blood. I will try to show my gratitude to You in the Sacrament of Your love, by obedience to Your holy commandments, by fidelity to my duties, by kindness to my neighbor and by an earnest endeavor to become more like You I my daily conduct.
15. Spiritual Communion
When unable to receive Holy Communion, it is a pious practice to make a Spiritual Communion. Say the following prayer of St. Francis:
I believe that You, O Jesus, are in the most holy Sacrament. I love You and desire You. Come into my heart. I embrace You. Oh, never leave me. May the burning and most sweet power of Your love, O Lord Jesus Christ, I beseech You, absorb my mind that I may die through love of Your love, Who were graciously pleased to die through love of my love.
16. A Short Visit to the Blessed Sacrament Before Meditation
I place myself in the presence of Him, in whose Incarnate Presence I am before I place myself there.
I adore You, O my Savior, present here as God and man, in soul and body, in true flesh and blood.
I acknowledge and confess that I kneel before that Sacred Humanity, which was conceived in Mary’s womb, and lay in Mary’s bosom; which grew up to man’s estate, and by the Sea of Galilee called the Twelve, wrought miracles, and spoke words of wisdom and peace; which in due season hung on the cross, lay in the tomb, rose from the dead, and now reigns in heaven.
I praise, and bless, and give myself wholly to Him, Who is the true Bread of my soul, and my everlasting joy.
17. Act of Adoration
With deepest humility, I adore You, my Lord and God; You have made my soul Your dwelling place. I adore You as my Creator from whose hands I came and with whom I am to be happy forever.
18. Prayer Before a Crucifix
Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus, while before Your face I humbly kneel, and with burning soul pray and beseech You to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope and charity, true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment, while I contemplate with great love and tender pity Your five wounds, pondering over them within me, calling to mind the words which David, Your prophet, said of You, my good Jesus: “They have pierced my hands and my feet; they have numbered all my bones” Ps 21, 17-18).
19. Prayer Before a Crucifix
Dear good and gentle Jesus, I come before You, asking You most earnestly to engrave uon my heart a deep and lively faith, hope and charity, true repentance for my sins, and a firm resolve to make amends.
As I reflect upon Your five most precious wounds of crucifixion, and contemplate them with great love and tender pity, I recall the wounds said of You long ago, dear Jesus: They have pierced my hands and my feet; they have counted all my bones.
Permit me never to be separated from You, O Lord, and defend me from all that is harmful and evil. Amen.
20. Prayer on Friday
O Jesus, it was on a Friday that You shed Your precious Blood on the Cross and redeemed the world. You did penance for the entire world. Mother Church asks that I set every Friday of the year aside as a special day of penance. This Friday I want to offer special prayers and sacrifices in reparation for my personal sins and those of the world.
O Jesus, there are so many things I do in penance on Friday. I can visit the sick, the lonely; I can do special things to serve You in my neighbor.
21. Devotion Prayer the Holy Face
O Jesus, who in Thy Cruel Passion became the “Reproach of men and the Man of Sorrows,” I worship Your divine Face.
Once it shone with the beauty and sweetness of the Divinity; now for my sake it is become as the face of a leper.
Yet in that disfigured countenance I recognize Your infinite love, and I am consumed with the desire of loving You and making You loved by all mankind.
The tears that streamed in such abundance from Your eyes are to me as precious pearls which I delight to gather, that with their infinite worth I may ransom the souls of the poor sinners.
O Jesus, whose Face is the sole beauty that ravishes my heart, I may not behold here upon earth the sweetness of Your glance nor feel the ineffable tenderness of Your kiss.
To this I consent, but I pray that you imprint in me Your Divine Likeness, and I beg You to so inflame me with Your love, that it may quickly consume me, and soon I may reach the vision of Your glorious Face in heaven! Amen.
22. Prayer to Jesus Christ Crucified
My good and dear Jesus, I kneel before You, asking You most earnestly to engrave upon my heart a deep and lively faith, hope and charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm resolve to make amends. As I reflect upon Your five wounds, and dwell upon them with deep compassion and grief, I recall, good Jesus, the words the prophet David spoke long ago concerning Yourself: “They have pierced my hands and my feet; they have counted all my bones!”
“Nothing is more practical than finding God, . . . than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you will do with your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love with Him and it will change everything.”

25. Prayer to Jesus Miracle of Lanciano
O Jesus, living Bread descended from heaven, how infinitely great and good is Your love! In order to perpetuate and strengthen our faith in Your Real Presence in the Eucharist, you changed the consecrated species of bread and wine into Flesh and Blood, which are perpetually reserved in the Eucharistic Sanctuary of Lanciano. Oh, increase ever more our faith in You, Sacramental Lord.
Grant that burning with love for You, we may come to seek comfort in dangers, in necessities and in anxieties, only at your feet, O Divine Prisoner of our tabernacles, O perpetual fount of every grace.
Excite in us hunger and thirst for Your Eucharistic food, so that in keeping Your Word, tasting this heavenly Bread, we may be able to enjoy true life now and forever. Amen.
26. Prayer of Consecration of the Family to the Divine Mercy
O Jesus, you showed us your infinite compassionate love by exhausting the very last drop of blood and water from your body. From this day forward, with full confidence, we entrust our families to your Divine Mercy. We abandon our past, our present and our future. We place into your wounds all of our wounds which are caused by lack of love, understanding and trust. Jesus, expel Satan and all evil from our families, free us from the consequence of sin and protect us from further harm.
Heal our wounds. May our families learn to venerate Your Divine Image that they will never perish but experience your loving mercy. Amen.
27. Morning Offering Asking for Consolation
Dear Jesus, I know that your Sacred Heart is sorrowful because so many people neither love you nor trust in you. Behold, Lord, here I am. Though weak and sinful, I love you and I trust in you. I intend that all my actions this day be for the purpose of consoling you.
Heavenly Father, in union with all the Masses being offered today, I give you praise and thanks for the many gifts you will send me, including the gift of my small sharing in the Cross. May this my prayer glorify you and console your Son. With the help of your grace, I resolve to remain all day in this prayerful spirit of praise and thanks and, further, to console Jesus by being merciful to my neighbor through my deeds, words, and prayers.
Mary, my mother, come with your spouse, the Spirit. Make my sacrifice of praise, thanks, and mercy a most pleasing consolation to your Son. Behold, I present to you all I am and have. Take my offering so it may pass through your Immaculate Heart, to Jesus’ Sacred Heart, and on to the Father, for his greater glory. Amen.
28. When in Poor Health
Jesus, in the goodness of Your Heart, You have given me the great gift of life. You have asked me to take up my cross daily and follow You. Today my illne3ss is a heavy burden, Lord, and I need the comfort Your promised.
As You showed Your wounded side to Thomas, open Your Heart and have mercy now on me. Take special care of those I love and of all the poor and suffering throughout the world. Amen.
Soul of Christ, be my
sanctification;
Body of Christ, be my salvation;
Blood of Christ, fill all my veins;
Water of Christ’s side, wash out my stains;
Passion of Christ, my comfort be;
O good Jesus, listen to me;
In thy wounds, I fain would hide;
Ne’er to be parted from thy side;
Guard me, should the foe assail me;
Call me when my life shall fail me;
Bid me come to thee above,
With thy saints to sing thy love
World without end. Amen.

30. A Prayer for Migrants
Merciful and loving Father, you provided for your people Israel in their exodus from slavery a promised land that you established for them, and in Jesus Christ you provide welcome refuge for all in need.
We ask for you divine protection for all migrants who have left their homes in search of new opportunity in another land.
For refuges, who are forced from their homes due to threats of violence, we beseech you to provide them a safe haven.
For migrants trafficked into slavery, grant them rescue, healing, and the strength to start again.
For immigrants, who so often leave their family and friends who are left behind, grant them a better life and greater opportunity elsewhere.
We pray in particular for your protection over migrant children who are vulnerable to exploitation and abuse at the hands of others.
We implore you to grant all migrants your protection and lead them to a place of safety.
Be with all those in need with your power to save.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
